About the Course

The participants will learn the process and procedures of 3D static reservoir modelling. The general principles will be discussed irrespective of the software to be used. However, the practical session will be demonstrated with PETREL. The best way to manager oil and gas reservoir well is to understand the reservoir. To understand the reservoirs, it must be modelled. The importance of environment of deposition will be emphasised.

• Develop the workflow in the reservoir integration process
• Evaluate and quantify uncertainties in various sources of data
• Build a geo-cellular model using geostatistical tools and upscale it to capture essential heterogeneities
• Develop criterion for objective history matching
• Utilize seismic data in different phases of reservoir description and integrate them using geostatistics
• Use various description tools in a judicious manner
• Use public domain software to apply many of the techniques discussed in class
