About the Course

This course covers fundamental concepts, following the hydrocarbons production cycle. The course starts with a revision of Reservoir Engineering fundamental notions, focusing then in the effect of well completion in production and finally concentrating in the most common operations and well interventions.

 

Course Objectives

• Become conversant on major topics within the production engineering
• Develop empathy for the challenges faced by the industry related to production engineering topics
• Develop the vocabulary and understanding of roles necessary to facilitate discussions with other professionals on production engineering topics

Overview of Reservoir concepts. How reservoir properties affect production:

• • Introduction, Course Objectives, Overview of Production Engineering
  • Geology and Production, Rock Properties
  • Fluid Properties; Reserves, Reservoir Driving Mechanisms
  • Damage and Skin

Performance Prediction:

• • Well Testing, Nodal Analysis, Nodal Analysis exercises

Typical Upper Completion:

• • Casing string and suspension, Tubing Selection
  • Tubing Connections; Packers, Wellheads and Xmas trees
  • Accessories, Safety Valves, Running Completions, Artificial Lift, Multilaterals

Typical Lower Completions:

• • Introduction to Sand Control, Gravel Pack Design
  • Alternative Path, Perforations

Production Operations: Stimulation, Surface Facilities, Wireline and Coiled Tubing:

• Acidizing Candidate Selection, Acidizing; Fracturing
• Surface Facilities, Production Logging
• Concerns in typical coiled tubing applications
